Natural Spider Repellent Recipe

Natural Spider Repellent

This Natural Spider Repellent recipe happened out of pure desperation.A few years ago after we had an ongoing amount of rain my little boy was bitten by a spider.

It was crazy we took him to the doctor had hi medicated and all the creams were prescribed but then my husband got bitten by a spider on his thigh. We were being INVADED!!!!! But wait then my little boy got another bite and then another bite.

By that time I had bought and used every Insect repellent (you’ve seen the back of those scary bottles its poison after poison we spraying into our homes eeeeeekkkk!)the stores had to offer.Nothing was helping,we even thought that perhaps my son was getting attacked by the spiders at school.I had to find a solution and quick.

I came across this oddly easy Spider Repellent online. It was Natural and it was easy to make.Could this be the solution?

I gave it a try and needless to say we’ve never had a spider visit since (well until..read below). When the rains come I get out my trusty bottle of Spider Repellent and spray along the window sills, the sliding doors , around the entrance door frames and all the dark nook and crannies in our home.

This December I had run out of oil and lo and behold my husband got a Spider Bite on his arm he had to have treated by the doctor it was that bad.I rushed out the same day and stocked up.

By now you asking ok ok you’ve told us how great it is but what is it?How do you make it?

Simple!

Natural Spider Repellent

YOu will need:
  • Peppermint Oil
  • Water
  • Spray Bottle (By now you have seen I like to buy those small bottles from the Travel aisle at Dischem)
To make:
  1. Pour Water into spray bottle
  2. Add 8-10 drops of Peppermint Oil
  3. Close Bottle and shake
  4. Use as and when needed

FYI:

My youngest is super paranoid about getting a Spider Bite, so before bed he sprays himself with the peppermint spray along with his duvet , as his bed is right against the wall where the window is.To date he has been bite free.

When my son was in the 2nd Grade their classroom was also being invaded by spiders, after the rains we had had. I made a bottle for the classroom , Im happy and relieved to say not a single child fell victim to spider bites.

Let me know if you try it out and if you as happy as I am using this Natural Spider Repellent.

CHATBOOKS – The App

This Chatbooks ad completely sold me, just watch, you be the judge. (Click above).

After researching and downloading the app on my phone I was ready to start it was just that easy, and I was so pleased that #chatbooks delivered to South Africa and at $10 what a bargain!

The app is super easy to use and since my 1st book I’ve actually created one ever month with ease.

The arrival of the book was like Christmas coming early. Its beautiful my photos look stunning , they great quality prints and the feel of the paper is amazing. A photoboook with top quality prints and paper without the expensive price tag thats for sure.Everyone I’ve shown the book to is totally hooked.

The only drawback from this whole exercise was not from Chatbooks but our South African Postal Service , because of the #aliexpress and #wish parcels it took a tad longer than expected to get my hands on it.The wait was worth it because they are truly the easiest photobooks I’ve made as well as the cheapest.

#superanimals – Are Back

Our 1st trip to @picknpay to get us some #superanimals , yup I’m that sort of mom , the one who gets the whole family involved , starts a WhatsApp swop group , goes to store swop days . Why? My youngest is a collector from little , if there were/are toys or things that come in groups we had to get the “vallection” (that’s how he pronounced the word collection when he was smaller) why I indulge in this whim……
•they rather educational
•they get to practice putting the cards in numerical sequence time & time again(that’s maths)
•they learn to read & spell the animal names (that’s language)
•swopping makes for good camaraderie , making new friends , learning the art of being civil (that’s social skills)

Easter Treats 2017

Easter has definitely become my favourite holiday , we really do reflect on the meaning and celebration of Easter more so than Christmas in my opinion.Theres no rush to buy gifts ,there’s no pressure to tick off lists – there is just this sense of calm and togetherness…..well at least thats the case in my family.

We go to church the morning of Good Friday return home and have a late family lunch. We do glow in the dark Easter Egg Hunts (this has now turned into a tradition with loads of giggles and adults joining in on the fun – last year my brother-in-law thought it a hoot to bury them to make it more difficult for the kids. One egg is still missing lol). Sunday morning we go to mass, we meet have a big Easter Lunch and the kids get treats.

Now let me tell you about these treats! Before I had kids I had already , shall I call it petitioned for the move to small gifts instead of chocolates to be made (wink-wink,  nudge-nudge) its finally happened and we usually get the kids a very small chocolate along with a book or dvd or even an item of clothing.

I’ve put together a few of the items I’ve bought , have a look below:

Click on highlightered area for link to items

Top Row: Possibly the best buy ever…our Woolies Glow in the Dark Eggs ,  for older kids this DVD is just beautiful , we usually watch this during the Easter Break , my favourite find this year is pereft for mom’s , your bff or work collegue or even a teen – I came across these at Foschini

2nd Row: The perfect top of any little girl to wear over Easter , I love this little bunny ring holder from Umbra ,  this is another fun one from Woolworths; their Egg Decorating Kit is so a wonderful afternoon of fun (be sure to buy real white eggs at PNP).

3rd Row: The arts and crafts kits from Clicks are awesome , we love #veggietales and this DVD gets watched even when its not Easter . Egg and Spoon will keep the kids busy and its loads of fun.

Last Row: My fab find this morning comes from Chefs and Icers in Sandton, how sweet is this little Bunny Egg dish? Lastly by far the sweetest and cutest Easter item on my list is the Baby-X Easter outfit – one of the teachers just had a baby and we got baby an Easter Outfit .

Have a happy and blessed Easter.

I came across this product when we went through our financial fast aka when hubby got retrenched and we really had to tighten that budget belt.

This shampoo costs R 49,95 for a 1 litre bottle and it goes a long long way.In our household it takes about 5-6 months to finish so yup it’s R 100 a year for shampoo.

Yes its budget friendly , yes it’s a long lasting size but the best part are the ongoing compliments my boys get about how nice their hair smells.

Change our world for good #COWFG

MGFAARK-COVER

We got a little ARK this weekend from my MIL.

MGFAARK.02

I loved the idea behind it and did more research on the project, our world is in such turmoil, our lives are pretty much exposed to sadness, hatred and disaster daily so when we can do something to change it, to be the positive in our own lives and in the lives of others …why not!!!!! this is what their website had to say about this awesome initiative:.

When one does something bad, negative energy is created. But when one does good, positive energy is created.

The world is awash in conflict; malice and misery.

With the global calamities of our time there is a critical need for positive change in the world at large.

The sole aim of this project is to remind people that every single person has the ability and ultimately, the responsibility to make the world a better place through positive actions – basically, through goodness and kindness.

We have embarked on an ARK campaign (ARK – Acts of Random Kindness).

[ ARK – ACTS OF RANDOM KINDESS ]

The mission statement of this campaign is Change Our World for Good. The goal is to distribute charity boxes in the shape of an ARK. The label on each charity box read: “Change Our World for Good” When full give me to someone less fortunate. Our organization will not take the charity boxes back as this is not a fundraiser.

We simply want to encourage people of all ages to increase in acts of goodness and kindness. You can help by spreading kindness across the globe by posting your ARK on Facebook or Twitter using #COWFG. Share your stories, post your pictures, get involved. Be part of the kindness movement.

Number Fun – Foundation Phase

numbers.mgfa-cover

Identifying and learning Numbers can be rather daunting when your child gets past 1-50.

Remember the good old days when you were thrilled that they were counting like little champs from 1-10?

I came across this double-sided poster at PNA its 1-500 on one side and 501 – 1000 on the other.Perfect for kids up to foundation phase.

Then I bought this very inexpensive (dare I say it) gun at Ackermans for R 9.95 and we got to shooting.

numbers.02mgfa

What we do? Simple ……….

AIM

SHOOT

And IDENTIFY your number. (if the “bullet”lands between numbers then you have to identify all the numbers the “bullet” has landed on).

numbers.mgfa.04

It’s an afternoon of fun and I’ve actually found my little guy doing his own numbers “target practice”.

Favourite Find 1: The Numbers Chart @ PNA

Favourite Find 2: The really cheap fun and lick and stick “bullets” from Ackermans

Enjoy
