We three days into the New Year and I have to admit I love this time of the year, the new beginning, the clean slate and the endless possibilities,Ive attempted to do the 12 Month Savings Challenge before and failed miserably (My 1st post here).
Last Year was a really difficult one in terms of finances, my business was slow but steady but my husband’s business got a real kick in the rear and severely injured our finances so whatever we had saved earlier in the year was depleted pretty quickly.
Before the boys were born I was the saver and financial planner (so to speak). Two Years, two pregnancies and two sweet munchkins later and I feel I’m only just returning to my former self and out of the baby coma. This means I’m more determined than ever to accomplish this 12 Month Savings challenge.
This PDF (Right Click on Pic below and save) is to help keep track of my savings , I’ll be printing it out and framing it so I can see it daily as a constant reminder to keep the 12 Month Savings Challenge going.I realised that was my downfall previously,I concentrate on paying all the bills and keeping afloat that by the time I thought of the savings the money had been allocated elsewhere.
I’ve divided it into 3 Parts or lets say (quarterly goals) this in my opinion doesn’t make it so daunting. How great is it that in 3 Months I can save R 2800.00 , when I make it to 6 months thats a fantastic R 8100.00 and the end goal is a brilliant amount of R 15 000.00.I’ve opened a savings account and I’ve left the bank card at home (no temptations at the shops). I’ve also bought a A5 Plastic divider with 13 divisions, this way I’ll be allocating my monies to different departments/divisions such as groceries ,petrol, entertainment etc.I’ve noticed this debit card usage has me spending more than I should ,when you see, touch and feel the money you spending personally I tend to be a lot more conscious and aware of my spending so I’m giving it a try this year.
Happy Savings to you all and may the year ahead be a blessed one for each and everyone of you readers.
